WHY IMMIGRATION REFORM?
by Carroll Cawyer - Texas MinuteMan
Approximately 10% of illegal immigrants are apprehended.

It was one of the darkest nights we had while on the line watching for illegal activity.  It was overcast so there was no moon, no starlight.  But our night vision equipment allowed us to clearly see the group of 12 men and one woman coming towards us.  They were young men, dressed in black BDU (battle dress utility) with bloused boots and moving very rapidly in single file formation.  We communicated their position and direction to the border patrol so they could interdict and apprehend these illegals.  But they were moving too fast and the border patrol is stretched too thin.  Another paramilitary group of illegal aliens had slipped across our border.

Today the United States is faced with an invasion. Not an invasion from a nation state, but from peoples of many nations.  This is but one example of this invasion.

The Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR)(1) estimates as many as three million illegal aliens cross our borders every year to join those already here. No one knows for sure exactly how many are here; estimates range from 8.7 million (2) to 20 million (3) with some sources putting the figure closer to 13 million. (1)

Site Selection Magazine Award the Governors Cup To Texas - Again
THE TEXAS TEACUP

“Texas finished the race in a big way, in keeping with things Texan, and
certain projects in its 2005 lineup easily fit that bill.”

Even if Texas had simply matched its winning 2004 number of new and expanded facilities (668) in Site Selection's annual Governor's Cup competition, it would easily have won again 2005. But it far exceeded that number in this year's ranking with 842 qualifying new or expanded facilities, earning Gov. Rick Perry the Site Selection Governor's Cup for the second year in a row. It was hardly a photo finish. Runners up Ohio, Illinois and Michigan were unable to crack the 600 mark, although Ohio came within a hair's breadth of that figure, with 598.

The Governor's Cup and other awards bestowed by the magazine are determined by the number of qualified projects logged into Conway Data's New Plant database. Qualifying projects involve a capital investment of at least US$1 million, create 50 or more jobs or involve new floor space of at least 20,000 square feet (1,860 sq. m.).

T4T Comments:

Recently the Texas media has demonized Dr. Jim Leininger for contributing money in several legislative races.  While T4T supports school choice, he is not one of our donors.

We want our readers to recognize Dr. Leininger for passionately giving to a cause that helps poor Texas children.  His interest in politics will never bring him monetary gain or personal benefit.

Here is a rare commentary from this unassuming, humble Christian man who practices what he believes.
